Jennifer is a Licensed Intervention Specialist and Certified Academic Language Practitioner

Jennifer’s mission is to guide her students in discovering a deep understanding of the English language in an emotionally responsive learning environment, while helping them achieve their full potential.

Prior to launching Alliance Intervention Services, Jennifer earned her Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University and worked in human resources, a natural extension of her desire to improve the lives of all people. A growing awareness of the country’s dismal reading achievement statistics turned the focus of her career to improving literacy outcomes. Jennifer pursued a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of North Dakota, and studied with the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Columbus, engaging in an in-depth course of study that included over 100 hours of supervised practicum experience. Jennifer is a licensed Intervention Specialist (K-12), and an ALTA Certified Academic Language Practitioner.

Jennifer builds bridges with students, parents, teachers and district stakeholders, to unite teams for student success. Her decade-long commitment to professional development guarantees that her students are provided with instruction inclusive of the most current discoveries in reading science.

Carly Alliance Intervention Services

Carly is a Licensed Teacher with comprehensive training in structured literacy, an evidence-based instructional approach to reading intervention.

Carly’s mission is to reach every student, no matter the circumstances. Carly strives to create an open, comfortable, and accepting learning environment for all students. She is committed to helping students access information and learn through engaging lessons and research-based practices. 

Carly graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. Before joining Alliance Intervention Services, Carly taught in both South-Western City Schools and Hilliard City Schools.Carly works with students of all ages to help improve both math and literacy skills. Carly is currently studying with the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Columbus, participating in an in-depth course of study that includes over 100 hours of supervised practicum experience.

In her free time she likes to go on walks, spend time with her husband and her dog, and watch all of the Ohio State and Cleveland sports she can!

Mrs. G has been an educator for over 12 years and has completed comprehensive training in LETRS, The Writing Revolution 2.0, the Hochman Method®.

Her transformative approach to teaching writing applies to all grade levels and subject areas. Easily integrated into existing curricula, her Writing Revolution experience provides students with instruction using targeted strategies and activities that elevate their writing and empower struggling writers to become confident communicators.

The methodology is explicit, carefully sequenced instruction, building from sentences to compositions. The Hochman Method is not a separate writing curriculum but rather an approach designed to be adapted to and embedded in the content taught in any subject area and grade level.

Students working with Mrs. G receive targeted feedback on their writing to strengthen their organizational skills, enrich their oral language, and foster analytical thinking.

Mrs. G lives in Ohio with her husband and two boys. In her free time, she enjoys reading and thrifting.

Kathryn Ufferman Alliance Intervention Specialists

Kathryn Ufferman is a dedicated Reading Specialist with experience helping students develop strong foundational literacy skills, with a particular focus on phonics.

Before joining Alliance Intervention Services, Kathryn earned her Reading Endorsement from The Ohio State University in Education and has over 5 years of teaching experience in diverse classroom settings.

Kathryn is passionate about empowering young learners to become confident and proficient readers and fostering literacy development in students through evidence-based strategies, differentiated instruction, and a deep understanding of reading processes.  She is skilled in supporting struggling readers and promoting lifelong literacy skills for all learners.

Throughout Kathyn’s career, she has worked with students of various ages and learning abilities, using research-based strategies to foster a love of reading. She believes that a solid foundation in phonics is crucial for reading success and is skilled in providing individualized instruction that meets the unique needs of each student.

In her free time, she reads books (particularly any mystery novel she can get her on!). She also likes to spend time with her husband and two children!  

Emma is a Licensed Teacher with comprehensive training in structured literacy, an evidence-based instructional approach to reading intervention.

Emma’s mission is to show empathy, kindness, and care to each student as she teaches them all components of literacy with fidelity. Emma desires to build her students’ confidence by patiently guiding them in a diagnostic-based series of lessons to meet their specific needs.

Emma graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Emma had the honor of teaching Kindergarten at Cypress Christian Schools for five years before joining Alliance Intervention Services. She is thrilled to move into a position with a focus on literacy learning, as she has a deep passion for teaching reading, writing, phonics, and all things language-related. Emma is currently studying with the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Columbus, participating in an in-depth course of study that includes over 100 hours of supervised practicum experience. She is set to graduate from the program in May 2025 and will sit for the Certified Academic Language Practitioner exam immediately after.

In the evenings, you can find Emma meeting up with friends, reading a good cozy mystery novel, or watching a favorite show with her husband. On the weekends, she can be found leading worship at her church, enjoying long drives with her husband, and resting with her two Golden Retrievers!

Chuck Alliance Intervention Services

Chuck is an Indie Teacher based in Columbus, Ohio and is part of the Alliance Intervention Services Team

Chuck’s mission is to work with students 1-on-1 to tutor them in traditional school subjects, and he also works with professionals interested in improving their skills

Chuck Michelson is an Indie Teacher based in Columbus, Ohio. Being an Indie Teacher means he’s flexible and often works with students 1-on-1 to tutor them in traditional school subjects like math, physics, statistics, and neuroscience. Chuck also works with professionals who are interested in improving their skills. Chuck hold a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Texas, alongside degrees in physics and neuroscience from Tulane University. He has been tutoring all of his life, with 12 years of tutoring full time. In Chuck’s free time, he enjoys movies, camping, Argentine tango, and contributing to Wikipedia.
